SB:  Describe the first piece of jewelry you made that you were proud of:

FR:  It’s an Australian pearl necklace. One of my first biggest clients that happens to be a close family friend, commissioned me an Australian pearl necklace to frame her ct. 4.00 engagement diamond.  The necklace is in white gold 18 kt., white diamonds, rough diamonds, light blue boulder opals and Australian pearls diameter from 12mm to 20mm.  I’m still in love with this one of a kind item and proud of it.

SB:  Was there a turning point in your life that led you to jewelry design?

FR:  While I was at the Academy of Art, studying sculpture, I decided to follow my passion: designing and creating sculptures that would adorn the body.  I always had a passion for jewelry, my first items were antique Indian silver jewelry that I started to collect, when possible from eighteen.  While I was at the academy of art I went to work as an apprentice to the work shop of an artist, Davide De Paoli, that was famous for his Jewelry sculptures.

SB:  What other career would you pursue if you did not design jewelry?

FR:  I would have loved to be an Oceanographer. I always had a passion for the sea world and when I was a child I was dreaming to become an oceanographer and start working with Jaques Cousteau and his team.  I used to watch his documentary and dream about those adventures.

SB:  Finish this statement: When I’m not making/designing jewelry, I am…

FR:  Besides being a mom, and taking care of my family:  I’m thinking of changes or restyling details of my house in Sardegna, where I go every time it’s possible. A small detail that gives more charm to a place where I feel away of any worries, and perfectly reflects my personality.  It’s a small house with a big patio perfectly integrated in Sardegna’s Meditterranean scrub.

SB:  Is there a piece that you sold that you wish you had kept for yourself?

FR:  Most of the items I produce are one of a kind items that I design with passion; every item reflects a piece of my soul.  There are many items that I wish I had kept for myself, it’s very difficult to choose one or another; sometimes happens that when I see a client wearing one of my creations that I don’t see for a long time, I feel very proud but at the same time I feel a little jealous.

SB:  What do you consider to be your greatest achievement to date?

FR:  My greatest achievement is that while I follow my passion creating jewelry, there are clients that appreciate my work becoming fans and collectors. What else can you ask more….
